Our Miracle Baby!

Hands down this has been the hardest week of mine and Jesse lives and yet there have been so many blessings and tender mercies from the Lord that we are just so grateful for.As a parent it is the hardest thing to watch your child suffer or go through pain, but we have felt the spirit so strong this week that we just can't thank our Father in Heaven enough for our blessings and for our miracle baby!

Monday morning we took him in at 7 and they called us back around 8. They went over everything and we dressed him in his hospital gown and followed the Anesthesiologist down the hallway. This was one of the hardest moments as he turned around and said "this is it", for a moment I wanted to run the other way with James, but I knew this surgery had to happen. We went into the waiting room and they updated us about every hour. The surgery took four and a half hours. As we walked in ICU and saw him for the first time, floods of emotions filled Jesse and I. On one hand we were so grateful the surgery was over and it went smoothly, but on the other hand to see James laying there with every tube and IV hooked up to him, it was so hard to see. We both just wanted to climb right in the crib with him.

This is few hours after surgery in the ICU.

James was in ICU for twenty four hours. The nurse watches him every second in ICU, she said to go and get some sleep that night but there was no way I was ever going to leave his side. The nurse was so shocked about how James was doing because she said usually when they wake up they throw up and cry for hours and little James just slept. I told her this little guy has a lot of people praying for him. They had a record high of kids with RSV that night and the whole week while we were there. I just kept praying to get us out of ICU because it is all open separated by curtains, they tried to keep them across from us, but you could hear the kids coughing all night.

While in ICU they had to do another blood transfusion because his blood was not clotting and said this time they were just putting in plasma which helps do that and thankfully it worked.

Tuesday afternoon they took us to our own room. This day his head began to swell a lot and they kept telling me the the next two days will be the worst.

By Tuesday night his eyes were swollen shut. It was so sad but we kept talking and singing to him, he kept trying to rub his eyes. And the nurses yet again said does he ever cry, he is such a good baby usually they cry the whole time. I said he was born like this just an absolute perfect baby! He is the toughest and bravest little guy. Tuesday and Wednesday they had to change his IV three different times because it either clotted or rolled out of his vein. He has pokes and bruises up and down his arms and feet.

This was on Thursday, they cut his bandage off and took his drain out and his head was so swollen. By that afternoon I was feeding him and he looked up and his eyes started to open a little and as soon as he saw me he smiled so big! I just started to cry, my mom was there(poor Jesse got sick and wasn't able to be there since Tuesday) and was crying saying this is the best day! To see his eyes and see him smile was unbelievable!

Logan was so sweet with James this was his first time seeing him and the picture says it all. His prayer that night said,"bless James zigzag and bless his drain in his head and bless his hair to grow back soon"!!

This was something so cute. He could barely see and my dad went and got him some ballons and brought them close to him and James just got so excited and kicking his legs and trying to grab it, his monitors started going off. His heart rate went up from him being so excited, but we thought we better not do that again.

WE LOVE YOU AND HAVE FELT YOUR LOVE AND WE ARE TRULY TRULY BLESSED TO HAVE SO MANY GREAT PEOPLE IN OUR LIVES!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

PS just something special about my mom! The day he opened his eyes we were just so thrilled and excited and probably about 10 min after that she got a phone call saying that her dad had passed. As she was feeling emotions torn in every direction. The next day at the hotel ran into President Monson, who she said to him, "Can I shake your hand and he said well let me shake both of your hands and gave her a kiss on the cheek. It was such a special experience!
