We went to baby brothers 2 week check up and his pediatrician kept feeling his head and suggested we get a cat scan and go see a specialist at primary childrens because it felt like the top of his skull had fused together. We were blown away; first, we've never even heard of this and second, he might have to get surgery on his head, WHAT! Well we went yesterday and they confirmed that it was and is called sagittal craniosynostosis. There is supposed to be an opening allowing his head to grow and the bones have come together instead. Jesse and I were pretty emotional as the doctor described the surgery to us. He will be in the hospital for 4 days and they will make an incision from ear to ear and they make it in a wave pattern so his hair can grow back pretty normal. They will then cut some of the bone out and put in screws and plates(that will dissolve in a year, how crazy and cool is that so we don't have to go back in) they said most likely do blood transfusion with him being so small. We hate thinking about what he has to go through, but we know that he is going to be okay. We thank our Father in heaven for modern medicine and that this is something that can be fixed! We are blessed to have found out this early on so he doesn't have to have multiple surgeries. We thank you all for your love and most of all your prayers, we have felt them and it is very comforting to us! We will keep you posted on the surgery but it will be either the end of January or first of February.
